    External Wall Insulation

External wall insulation involves fixing a layer of insulation material to the wall, then covering it with a special type of render, the finish can be smooth, textured, painted, tiled, panelled, pebble-dashed, or finished with brick slips. It is less disruptive, because the work takes place outside your home – but your gas, electricity, or water my have to be cut off for a few days. It won’t shrink the size of any of your rooms. It can improve the appearance of your home’s outside walls, as you can choose whatever finish you want. It is a low maintenance, high performance insulation measure. Reduce heat loss and CO2 emissions. Improved draught proofing. It can make your home soundproof and weather-resistant.

    Internal Wall Insulation

The internal wall insulation will provide a layer of insulation to increase the internal surface temperature of the wall thereby reducing the risk of condensation and mould. Overall the thermal performance of your property will be improved. It is generally cheaper to install than external wall insulation. Will slightly reduce the floor area of any rooms in which it is applied. It can be quite disruptive, but can be done room by room. Requires skirting boards, door frames and external fittings to be removed and reattached. Cannot be done before fixing any problems with penetrating or rising damp.
